Around the horn from the races this weekend

The United Way 5k and 10k were held in Concord this weekend with a total of 114 finishers across both races. In the 5k Amy Woolwine 38 years old took the top honors for the women in 28:24. While for the men, Alejandro Arreola took the top honors with a time of 18:39.

Alejandro had been injured a few weeks ago at Hit the Brixx so seeing him back out and racing must mean that he is healing nicely.

Next up was the 10k race where Jennifer Smith won with a time of 50:10 for the women and the ageless Milton Matheny to the men's top prize with a time of 37:59.

While Milton maybe ageless, he wasn't alone in showing the master's power, Alan Pover of Spartanburg finished 2nd in a time of 40:23. Who says that we slow down when we age?
