The Unknown Runner

There is a question that I have been meaning to ask. If an event is a chip timed race, how could there be runners with chip times but no names?

I mean you must have signed up and picked up your chip and number. How does this happen?

Just a guess...but some races allow you to use your own chip, if you own one. Perhaps they have not had a chance to sync the name to chip before results are posted. Also, if you register on race days, there could be some delay in posting the name to chip. Unless you check the reslt sheet or win a category, you might not check and question the posting.
