Charlotte Summer Track - Wk #5

Well, the month of June and our local track series has come and gone. I look back and struggle to understand how the last 5 weeks have flown by so fast.

The highlight of this final week was the mile event. Tim had a couple of crisp Benjamins to hand out if either the winning man ran sub 4:30 or the winning woman ran sub 5:30.

Tim seemed to be sweating a little more than usual when both the lead man and woman were on sub goal pace after the first lap. The sweat seem to increase as the lead man stayed well under target pace while the lead woman was running right on it through laps 2 and 3.

Both ran strong races with the lead man finishing around 4:26 but lead woman was just over 5:30 pace. Meaning Tim had to hand out 1/2 the Benjamins in his pocket.

This was by far the fastest race of the series with the top 4 guys all going under 5 minutes. They seemed to saved their fastest time for the last. This is as it should be.

Now, 1/3 of summer is over. I looked forward to my own opportunities to race. Watching all these great runners increases my appetite to go racing.

Go enjoy your summer and become one with the heat.
