Rocktoberfest 10k, Rockhill, SC

 I headed for Rockhill, SC for the Rockoberfest 10k. The last couple of years, they held a 1/2 marathon over cycling venue in Riverwalk, but this year, there was a 10k and 5k over by Winthrop University. 

The course was two laps over the 5k course. With the first mile around the coliseum and the 2nd and 3rd miles around the lake. They throw in about 3/4 quarters of a mile gravel road for each lap. 

I settled in as we headed into the first mile. Everyone had the same color numbers, so I couldn't tell who was in the 5k vs. 10k. The field stretched out but we were coming back by the 5k finish, I heard him say that the only 1 person turned into the 5k finish. All I could do was roll my eyes. Everyone ahead of me was running my race. Go figure. 

So, I stayed with the guys around me, and we pushed through the miles. 

The course was mostly flat. The inclines were gentle. 

As I looked at my splits, my miles seem to be getting faster. In fact, I ran the 2nd 5k faster than the first. 

I got 6 OA and first in my age group. 

Everyone received a gift card toward shoes at the Charlotte Running Store. 

Overall, it was a nice race. I liked the change.
